Every learner is different, which is why there’s no set time for how long your PCV training in Birmingham will take.

However, the practical side of our PCV training course can be completed in as little as five days, with your theory test being completed just a few short days later.

Naturally, you’ll also need to complete your CPC training and test, though this is standard for virtually all driving qualifications and is incorporated into your time with us.

We’ll also arrange your medical, ensuring you’re fully fit to drive passenger carrying vehicles, but again, this shouldn’t add too much time to your training experience.

Most people seeking to earn a PCV licence will be working towards the Cat D, which allows you to drive buses and coaches with more than 16 passenger seats.

However, there are other licences you can earn depending on your specific needs and what you intend to drive:

• Cat D1 lets you drive minibuses up to 16 seats
• Cat D1+E lets you drive a minibus with a trailer attached (but the total weight cannot exceed 12000kg)
• Cat D+E lets you drive a minibus or a coach with a 750kg trailer attached

No two drivers are the same and everyone approaches learning new skills differently.

It may be the case you take to PCV training like a duck to water, soaring through your practical and theory tests (and everything else) with complete ease! This is often the case for experienced drivers.

Then again, you may find making the switch from driving standard cars to much larger vehicles to be a shock to the system. So you may take a little longer getting used to being behind a new wheel.
