    Frequently Asked Questions

How does paying monthly for ADR training work?

Like other credit options for phones, household goods, or cars, paying for ADR training monthly involves splitting the cost of training over a selected number of months – the yearly interest rate you’ll pay on a loan.

This finance option from Snap Finance can be very beneficial for prospective learners, as it removes some of the financial insecurity and means they don’t have to rely on pre-existing savings or save up before they can start.

To see if you are eligible for HGV finance, get a quote or use our loan calculator here. Alternatively, if you want to book ADR training or ask a question, call or email us today at contact@hgvtrainingnetwork.com. Our knowledgeable team are on hand to help you in any way.

What is classed as dangerous in HGV loads?

As you might expect, the list of goods or dangerous substances that pose enough of a hazard to need specialist handling include:

    • Miscellaneous goods – like batteries and dry ice
    • Explosives
    • Radioactive materials
    • Gases
    • Toxic and infectious substances
    • Oxidising or corrosive substances
    • Flammable liquids and solids

All of these loads are essential for a range of industries but pose a risk to public health if exposed or if damage occurs during transit or loading/unloading.

This is why ADR drivers receive comprehensive training on handling and transporting these goods as part of their ADR training.

For more information about what your ADR training will cover,  fill in our enquiry form or email us at contact@hgvtrainingnetwork.com and we’ll get back to you!

Does it matter where you do your ADR training?

    Absolutely not!

Although you could be taking ADR training at any of our 50+ locations across England, Scotland, or Wales, all of our training courses include everything you need to drive and deliver dangerous goods competently and confidently.

You don’t even need previous HGV/LGV experience – we can arrange an HGV training course for you before you get started.

However, choosing the right location for you can come with vast benefits, including more hours in bed on your training-only days, shorter commutes, and far easier juggling of all of the day-to-day essentials like school drop-offs and food shopping!

To get started with ADR training today, choose your favoured location and then call us for a chat or fill out our enquiry form to get a bespoke start date!

Do ADR drivers also have protected driving hours?

HGV drivers have strict regulations, including limits on driving hours and mandatory rest periods – all of which are designed to ensure they are only driving when alert while also limiting the chance of accidents or fatalities.

ADR drivers are no different, even though their loads could be very different to those of a standard HGV driver!

This protection generally looks like this:

    • Limited hours daily – 9 or 10 hours
    • 4.5-hour driving stints followed by a 45-minute break
    • Daily rest periods of at least 11 hours
    • A maximum of 56 hours per week

While these exact values can change slightly depending on your shifts, all HGV driving is closely monitored with tachographs to ensure compliance – so you know you’ll always have a cracking work/life balance.

To find out more about the benefits of ADR training, email us at contact@hgvtrainingnetwork.com or fill in our enquiry form and our team can get back to you with bespoke advice.
