To help bring down the cost of mining natural resources, Belaz, a state-owned company of the former Soviet Republic of Belarus has manufactured a massive dumptruck. With an engine six times as powerful as a Formula 1 racing car, length equal to two double decker buses, and weight more than that of a fully loaded Airbus A380, the Belaz 75710 is definitely one of its kind. It is considered to be the biggest dumptruck ever, in the world.
All over the world, the electric power vehicle industry is growing at a fast pace. One of the reasons for this is the announcement made by several cities’ mayors. Diesel-powered vehicles will be completely eliminated from the city centres of France, Madrid, Athens and Mexico City by the year 2015. Recently the UK government also entered the league and announced a ban on the sale of these vehicles by 2040.
The UK law requires all professional HGV and PCV drivers to follow the drivers hours rule and log their work hours and breaks by using a tachograph. For this purpose, they can either use a traditional tachograph which uses a wax chart or a modern digital tachograph.
Recently, an interesting unofficial world record was set by Truck manufacturer Scania. 421 Scania trucks parked together making it the largest gathering of trucks of a single make in one place. The event took place at Donington Park circuit race at the cheerful occasion of Convoy in the Park truck festival.
