Penalties for using mobile phones while driving to be increased next year

The Government has announced changes to penalties for using hand-held mobile phones while driving. The new sanctions will apply in England, Scotland and Wales but not Northern Ireland (where the offence attracts three penalty points and a fine of £60). Legislation will now be drafted and the changes are expected to come into effect next year as follows.

• Drivers caught using a mobile phone for the first time will automatically receive six penalty points

• There will not be the option for new drivers (including those driving an HGV) to take a driving course instead of the points and fine

• Fines for offences will increase from £100 to £200 and penalty points from three to six (for drivers of all classes of vehicle)

I started my training with these guys back in the first week of December. They supported and helped me every step of the way Chris richard, and Sarah are at the end of the phone to answer any questions or worries that I had these guys care about their customers. If you want a company who will hold your hand throughout the entire process from start to finish and beyond (will get you into a job) who are responsive to calls, emails, additional support and will do it all with a smile on their faces… then HGV TRAINING NETWORK is the answer to your prayers. I cannot recommend them enough, Richard and Chris take a genuine personal interest in getting you through every stage, the paperwork, the form filling, the theory and then the practical. Great firm. Before starting was unsure who to go with as there are loads of dodgy company's out there in terms of booking your course. Spoke to Richard and within 30 minutes was sure this was the right way to go. They keep in regular contact and make sure everything runs smooth from your medical to driving test. Managed to obtain my license within 80 days thanks to Richard and his colleagues. Don't hesitate to contact them as they are the way to go no need to look elsewhere

I initially was on the hunt for a decent HGV training company in 2021 and made an enquiry with the HGV Training Network (spoke to Chris) but wasn't sure if I wanted to purse with driving so waited. Fast forward two years later I contacted Chris via email on the off chance he would remember me - he did! A massive thank you to Chris and Richard for their dedication and help, quality sales experience from Chris and encouraging support and advice from Richard. I would most definitely recommend HGV Training Network for anyone that wants to take a realistic approach and manage their expectations to becoming a fully qualified HGV driver - which I now am! I've been working with HGV Training Network for the last couple of months to gain my Class 2 licence, from the first point I contacted them to the end they've been nothing but flawless. There is no hassle or stress going through HGV Training Network everything is booked for you on the dates/times that are suitable for you.My go to contact was Ben who provided me with an in-depth break down of both the Class 1 & Class 2 licences to choose from with no BS like any normal salesperson would provide just to gain money and once signed up he gave me all the resources to get through both my Theory & Case Study tests and was constantly available to call if I needed anything explained or help with during this time. (Passed first time) I then got passed over to Richard who helped me through my Driving/CPC practical tests, again I can't fault what he provided me to pass my Driving/CPC first time.I've come from a background with no prior knowledge or experience working in this industry & got told if they can do it, you can if you go in with that mentality then you set yourself up to fail as it's not easy. Use the resources/contacts that they provide you & listen to all the information that is given to you during the run up to your tests and you can't go wrong.Thanks again for everything you have done for me 👍. The entire process was very easy, from applying for the licence in the first instance to the various paper work exercises, medical test and attending the driving school which was also second to none. Getting my HGV License with this training provider was a breeze as the package had all the relevant forms and all bookings was done through them! I was provided all the materials to pass my Cat C + CPC and passed my tests back to back 💪🏽 It was also helpful having constant communication with the HGV Network team as any queries I had was answered and sorted as soon as. I couldn't be happier, cheers 👍🏽

HGV Training Network are an amazing company. They helped and guided my son who has Aspergers through his training, step by step, at his pace, and made adaptions where they could to assist him with his motivation, because it has taken him 3 years. This is through no fault of his - Covid, DVLA issues and an influx of people wanting to be drivers. But they, as I had complete faith in him. He passed last week and is now fully qualified and looking for work. Gave the company a call just to get some advice, ended up speaking with a guy called Richard Allen (awesome guy btw). After listening to what he had to say I took some time to decide if it was for me, decided to go for it an it turned out to be one ot the best things I've done. I booked 20 hrs in class 1 gotta top quality trainer from rsm called rus who is really a great guy easy to get along with, professional and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. He just reminded me of hank from breaking bad 😆 🤣. Rang Richard back after I passed 😉 had another great phone call with him, he left me with a contact for potentially getting a new job aswell. Big 👍👍 to HGV Training Network.

The people working for HGV Training Network are a credit to their company. Predominantly, I dealt with Richard, however at the beginning I was also assisted by Chris and I spoke with Sarah a few times throughout my training as well. Whenever I called they were always on hand to help and, if not available, called back right away. Their material is set out in a way which makes it easy to follow and they always explained things fully and in a way which made me confident at every stage. Richard is a great guy and always had time for a quick chat and a laugh whenever we spoke. Due to a change in jobs I had to put the training on hold for a while but when we touched base around a year later he remembered everything about my family and personal circumstances - that’s what I call going the extra mile and someone who cares. Wonderfull company, I did my training for class 2 through these guys in January. Passed first time. They give you all the materials you need to pass and are a wonderfull bunch. Professional and keep you informed along the way. The whole process took a bit longer for myself due to delays with the DVLA, but I was kept informed all the time, thanks for all the help and support you gave me! Really worth while going through these guys if your looking to do your HGV licence.

I decided I wanted to change my career and become a HGV Driver. With the support of HGV TRAINING NETWORK, I was able to get my Category Class 2 License first time round. Chris gave me a better understanding and explained step by step what I needed to do. I was provided with resources for my CPC Module 2 theory test in which I passed first time. Upon leaving my old place of work, I finally thought, it’s time to get my HGV class 2 licence. I contacted the HGV training network, and was put through to Richard. The whole experience start to finish over the last 5 months has been great. Richard explained in detail every step I’d be going through, from my medical, to my final driving test. Best place to go for your HGV license. They are professional, quick, honest and will help you all the way. The training material for theory test is extremely easy to use and understand and the professional driving instructor on their panel is one of the best instructors I ever had.
